Home made braided French bread
Preparation time- 2 hour

Ingredients (for 4 servings):
  1. Whole purpose flour/maida- 1cup
  2. Butter- 50 gm
  3. Salt- as needed
  4. Egg- 1
  5. Yeast- 7 gm
  6. Sugar- 1 tsp
  7. Milk-5 tsp  
Method:

Step 1: Add yeast and sugar in lukewarm milk and keep it aside for 5 minutes.

Step 2: In a bowl, mix flour, butter, salt, egg and yeast solution and knead it well for 5-7 minutes.

Step 3:Cover with a wet cloth and keep it for 2 hours for fermentation. After 2 hours, take baking tray, dust with butter and  flour and spread the dough as shown in the picture. Take 15 cm length three rolls and braid like hair. Keep it for 1 hour, covered with a wet cloth

Step 4: After an hour, keep it in a pre heated oven in 220 degree celsius for 20-25 minutes in a medium height metal rack.

Ingredients (for 4 servings):
  1. Custard Powder - 4 tablespoon
  2. Milk-500ml
  3. Sugar-6 tablespoon
  4. Milkmaid- 3 tablespoon (optional) 
For rice balls
  1. Rice flour-200gm
  2. Salt- as needed 
Method:

Step 1: Pour boiling water to rice flour and add salt too. Knead it well. Make small sized  round balls. Take a steamer and steam these balls for 10 minutes
 
Step 2: Take custard powder in a bowl and add milk to form a thick paste and keep it aside.

Step 3:Boil the milk and custard powder paste and stir it well.

Step 4: After 5 minutes, add sugar or along with sugar you can add milk maid also.

Step 5: Stir it continuously till it becomes moderate consistency. Add steamed balls and stir it slowly on low flame.

Step 5:Allow it to cool and refrigerate it. While serving, you can add chopped fruits.

Tips and warnings
  • Stir it in a same direction
  • Boil it in a moderate flame
  • Even if milkmaid is optional here, please add it. It makes custard milk more tasty.

Ingredients :
  1. Oil- 3 tsp
  2. Mustard- 1 tsp
  3. Sambar onion/shallots - 1 no. (Sliced)
  4. Curry leaves- as needed
  5. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  6. Chilli powder- 1 tsp
  7. Coriander powder-1 tsp
  8. Garam masala-1/2 tsp
  9. Chinese potato- 250 gm (chopped) 
  10. salt  - as needed
Method:

Step 1: Take a pan, pour oil and add mustard seeds when it gets warm in low flame. Add onion and curry leaves and fry till onion gets golden brown color.

Step 2: Add turmeric, chili, garam masala and coriander powder, mix it very well in low flame.

Step 3: Add Chinese potato , sort it for a few minutes.

Step 4: Then, add salt, mix it very well, covered with lid and keep it in low flame for 5-7 minutes. Finally, you can garnish with coriander leaves too.

Tips
  • Scrape the black colored skin properly
  • Wash it minimum four times, to avoid contamination with sand granules
