Steamed white soft puttu/ Chiratta puttu for healthy breakfast

Preparation time- 5 mins
Cooking time-   6 mins 
Total time- 11 mins

Ingredients :

  1. Puttu powder- 1 cup
  2. Sugar- 1 Tsp
  3. Salt-1/2 Tsp
  4. Grated coconut- 10 Tsp
  5. Water at room temperature- as needed
Method:

Step 1: Take a bowl, mix all dry ingredients well, sprinkle water frequently and mix it well. The aim is to get wet flour without any lumps. Keep it for 15 minutes.

Step 2: Take a pressure cooker without pressure regulator, pour a cup of water and keep it on high flame.

Step 3: Take puttu mold, spread a layer of coconut and put wet flour. If the flour is not moist enough, you can sprinkle water and mix it well. 

Step 4: When water gets boiling, you can keep puttu mold on the vent tube and wait till steam comes and then, you allow it to cook in steam for six minutes. Serve immediately as warm. (This is secret of keeping puttu as soft and moist)

  • Reduce coconut, as it increases cholesterol level (It's a precautionary measure)
  • Reduce salt, as it increases blood pressure (It's a precautionary measure)
  • Do not add sugar to them.
  • Instruct them to take plenty of water to prevent dehydration
Diet for hypertensive persons
  • Reduce coconut, as it increases cholesterol level (It's a precautionary measure)
  • Reduce salt, as it increases blood pressure (It's a precautionary measure)
Diet for cardiac persons
  • Reduce coconut, as it increases cholesterol level (It's a precautionary measure)
